The sudden disbandment of Gfriend has always been a mystery.

The article, although i'm not sure how 100% true it is, talks about how MHJ screwed over Source Music and ultimately caused the disbandment of Gfriend.

It's a long read, but to summarize my understanding of things based on this and additional information I have read on twitter:

- Source Music was working on a New Girl Group (The group that would become New Jeans). MHJ was recruited to work on this GG under Source, Ador did not exist at this time.
- The New Jeans members were Source trainees, not Ador trainees. Once again Ador did not even exist at this time let alone have any trainees.
- When it came time to debut NJ's, instead of them debuting under Source Ador was suddenly started and they debuted there.
- Due to this, Source Music was pretty much left bankrupt by MHJ. The funds MHJ used to start Ador was taken out of Source Music's pocket. MHJ used Source's money to hold auditions for NJ's, train them for debut, etc, and took the majority of Source's employees to Ador as well. MHJ left Source with no money and no employees.
- Gfriend did initially renew their contracts, but due to Source now being bankrupt they had no choice but to suddenly disband them because they couldn't afford them anymore. This is why all of the girls were confused about suddenly disbanding because they literally just agreed to renewed their contracts.
- Hybe still wanted Source Music to debut a new girl group after all of this, so instead of Source closing down Hybe pretty much took over Source by replacing the missing Source music employees with Hybe employees and gave them the Le Sserafim girls to debut.

- This is also why Le Sserafim has such a short training period and recruited Sakura and Chaewon who were already established idols and didn't need training.
- Aka right now although source music is called source music, it's pretty much Hybe in a mustache cause it's their employees and them just working under a different name.

Long story short: I could be wrong but to my understanding, pretty much instead of New Jeans debuting under Source and Le Sserafim debuting under Hybe, MHJ stole Source's money to take NJ's to make her own company and Le Sserafim was moved to source instead. Gfriend got caught in the crossfire when MHJ stole Source's money and they were left so broke they couldn't run gfriend anymore.

I feel like a lot of this checks out because based on vibes, I can totally see New Jean's being intended to be Gfriend's little sister group instead of Le Sserafim because New Jeans has that same innocent school girl vibe Gfriend did at debut. They both kind of match better?

What are your thoughts and opinions on this?
